• claim, affirm, allege, assert, declare
• 這組詞都有“以某種肯定口氣提出…”的意思,它們之間的區(qū)別是:
  1.allege表示“聲稱,偽稱”,常有借口的意思。例如:
  He alleged illness for a reason for not going to work.他稱病,以此作為不去工作的理由。
  2.affirm表示“肯定,斷言”,指堅信不疑因而斷言。例如:
  It may be safely affirmed that he is innocent.可以斷言,他是無罪的。
  3.assert表示“主張,斷言”,指宣稱某事如此,并不說它是事實,著重主觀自信心。例如:
  He asserts the cause of liberty.他主張自由主義。
  4.claim表示“宣稱”,語氣比assert弱些。例如:
  He claimed to be the rightful heir.他聲稱自己是合法繼承人。
  5.declare意味著因否認某事而鄭重地宣稱。例如:

  demand主要指理直氣壯地強烈要求,常常側重不容拒絕。例如:

  claim指認為有權或宣傳有權得到某種東西因而公開提出要求。例如:
  Did you claim on the insurance company after your car accident?你出車禍后有沒有向保險公司提出賠償?
  require指根據(jù)內部需要,或法規(guī)義務,或緊急形勢等提出要求。例如:

• ask，beg，demand，require，request，implore，claim，pray，entreat
• 這些動詞均有“要求，請求”之意。
  ask最普通用詞，指向對方提出要求或請求，長、晚輩，上下級之間都可使用。
  beg指懇切地或再三地請求或要求，常含低三下四意味，也多用于應酬場合。
  demand一般指理直氣壯地提出強烈要求，或堅持不讓對方拒絕的要求。
  require強調根據(jù)事業(yè)、需要或紀律、法律等而提出的要求。
  request正式用詞，指非常正式，有禮貌的請求或懇求，多含擔心因種種原因對方不能答應的意味。
  implore書面用詞，著重指迫切、焦急或痛苦地懇求或哀求，常含較強的感情色彩。
  claim指有權或宣稱有權得到而公開提出的要求。
  pray語氣莊重，指熱情、誠懇和敬祈的要求，現(xiàn)不很常用。
