這組詞都有“層”的意思。其區(qū)別是：
1.floor指的是與“ceiling(天花板)”相對(duì)應(yīng)的地面，即室內(nèi)的地面、地板；
storey與story著重指大樓層與層之間的空間，所不同的是storey是英式英語(yǔ)，而story是美式英語(yǔ)。
例如：The house has two stories（storeys〕.那房子有兩層。
2.在單詞用法上，floor前面習(xí)慣用on，而storey前面習(xí)慣用in。
例如：They live in one of the upper storeys.他們住在上面的某一個(gè)樓層。
3.在表示樓房有幾層高時(shí)，現(xiàn)代英語(yǔ)習(xí)慣用storey，而不用floor。
例如：There?s a nine-storey apartment building next to the bank.那所銀行旁邊有一座九層高的宿舍大樓。
4.表示房子的第幾層時(shí)，用storey（story〕時(shí)，層數(shù)叫法英美相同，“第一層(地面層)”英美都叫first storey（story〕或ground storey（story〕，第二層英美都叫second storey（story〕，其余層數(shù)依此類推；但用floor時(shí)，在英國(guó)“第一層(地面層)”叫g(shù)round floor，“第二層”叫first floor，“第三層”叫second floor，…，而在美國(guó)first floor就是“地面層(第一層)”，second floor為“第二層”，其他層次依此類推。
